Evolution of a fish: Traveller 1990
twigs, cotton thread, calico, bituminous paint
110.0 x 130.0 x 18.0 cm
Part of John Davis' practice was to use found and fragile organic materials, such as sticks and leaves, which he sometimes constructed into forms that were left where he had found them. Sometimes he also used calico and bituminous paint as well, particularly on works sold rather than left where he found the materials.
Found materials such as sticks can be joined simply (and slowly) with cotton thread.
